PK1 - Navigate in a Graphical User Interface (GUI)

P1- P3
Objective: Move within application software and digital resources

Pupils will be able to:

  • Switch on a laptop.
  • Login using their account.
  • Locate the monitor and keyboard of a laptop.
  • Locate the sound button on a laptop.
  • Look for an application.
  • Highlight the application.
  • Turn on the application by double clicking on it.
  • Open the browser.
  • Go to a website. 
  • Play a video over the Internet. 
  • Use a mouse to left-click and right-click.
  • Switch off the laptop properly.


Objective: Recognize icons (e.g. minimise button, folder)

  • Open an application.
  • Enlarge an application window.
  • Decrease the size of an application window.
  • Minimise the screen.
  • Click on the icons in the taskbar.
  • Click on the icons in the start menu.
  • Click on the icons in the desktop. 
  • Move between windows.
  • Close a window.
  • Open a folder. 
  • Look for a specific file in a specific location. 
  • Tell the difference between the different drives.
